INHALE, EXHALE

As a member of Art + Engineering, I helped create a giant origami ball that we were able to expand and contract via Arduino to create the illusion that it was breathing.

This exhibit was produced in association with KTRU's annual Outdoor Show, so it was on display and operating at night during the variety of musical acts that played throughout the event.

This giant origami ball, in the style of a Dragon's Egg, was created using a 5 feet x 10 feet sheet of parchment paper, and it took seven people about 8 hours to fold in preparation of the event. The ends were connected to fishing line and wrapped around wooden poles. The finishing line was then attached to a motor attached the an Arduino, which would spin in opposite directions to expand and contract the ball.
